EdVenture Connects to meet on May 10
District Leaders are encouraged to attend the next EdVenture Connects gathering of its Education Network scheduled for Monday, May 10 at 10:00 via Zoom. The purpose of this group, that began meeting in July 10, 2019, is to support one another and strengthen our connection as a community of leaders dedicated to making a difference in the lives of children, their families, and the schools and teachers who service them.
The gathering will serve as an opportunity to learn what organizations are doing to help recruit and retain teachers. The meeting will include three 15-minute presentations by:
• Don Doggett (President of SCORS/ SEA Principal Liaison, Region 6 Comprehensive Center)
• Tommy Hodges (Executive Associate Dean, UofSC College of Education)
• Roy Jones (Clemson’s Provost’s Distinguished Professor/Executive Director, Call Me MiSTER Program)
Following their presentations, four education leaders will share what their respective organizations are doing to recruit teachers into our profession but also help keep them in the classroom where they can have the greatest impact. Joining us will be the following panel members: Bette Bronson (Junior Achievement of Greater SC), Lisa Call (MEBA), Sherry East (The SCEA), Arnold Hillman (SCORS), and Tom Peters (SCCMS).
Sarah Gams, 2021 SC Teacher of the Year, will join EdVenture’s host Marc Drews in moderating this conversation while sharing her passion for supporting for teachers.
While this portion of the meeting will conclude just before 11:30, there will be an “after the meeting” time when those staying on will be able to hear from two leaders who will engage the participants in a conversation regarding next steps. Barnett Berry (UofSC All4SC) and Regina Ciphrah (Verbalizing Visions) will reflect on what was shared in the two segments and lead the members in a discussion to develop a set of commitments that organizations may embrace to support recruitment and retention efforts in South Carolina. This added feature will conclude by noon.
To register, please click here and complete the form. The Zoom link will be shared on May 6 with the meeting reminder that will be sent to those registering.
Thank you for all you do to make a difference in the lives of children, their families, and the schools and teachers who serve them.
